Do You Have a Favorite Online Shopping Platform?

(1) Ted: Listen
You know, I shop so much online. Do you like shopping online or do you usually shop in traditional stores?

"so much" is an intensifier that modifies the verb "shop". It acts like an adverb.

(2) Maria: Listen
I also shop a lot online, too! It's really convenient and saves so much time.

"so much" is an intensifier that modifies the noun "time". It acts like an adjective. "really" is another intensifier. It intensifies the adjective "convenient".

(3) Ted: Listen
Which online stores do you frequent the most? I use Amazon a lot.

"a lot" is an intensifier that modifies the verb "use".

(4) Maria: Listen
Well, I do shop on Amazon, but I'm also a big [vocab word=fan]fan[/vocab] of Etsy since it has so many unique products that are not available on Amazon. I like Amazon, but I think Etsy has so many more products to choose from.

We use the intensifier "so many" before a comparative adjective and a countable noun ("more products").

(5) Ted: Listen
Ah, that's interesting. I've heard of Etsy but haven't explored it enough. Does it offer quick [vocab word=shipping]shipping[/vocab]? I like Amazon because they [vocab word=ship]ship[/vocab] so quickly.

"I've heard of Etsy but haven't explored it enough." - the subject of "haven't explored it" is "I". It's the same subject, so it's not written here. "I haven't explored it enough" means "I haven't spent a lot of time exploring it."

(6) Maria: Listen
Etsy's shipping times [vocab word=vary]vary[/vocab] because they sell so many [vocab word=handmade]handmade[/vocab] and unique items. But, if you're not in a [vocab word=hurry]hurry[/vocab], it's worth the wait.

"It's worth the wait" means that even though you have to wait for something, it will be good when it finally happens.

(7) Ted: Listen
I see. How about eBay or other [vocab word=e-commerce]e-commerce[/vocab] websites? Do you shop at any other websites?
(8) Maria: Listen
I have bought a few things from eBay. I think it's a good [vocab word=platform]platform[/vocab] if you're looking for [vocab word=second-hand]second-hand[/vocab] items or if you're not focused on [vocab word=brand new]brand new[/vocab] items. I've never tried Walmart, Rakuten or Newegg.
(9) Ted: Listen
I've shopped on Walmart's website a few times. They have pretty decent deals. If the items are small [vocab word=enough]enough[/vocab] to be shipped, they will ship them to your home. Or, you can pick them up [vocab word=in-store]in-store[/vocab]. I think Walmart is such a convenient website to do your everyday shopping.

Note that "enough" comes after the adjective "small". "Small enough to be shipped" means the item is small so you can ship it. "such a" is also a type of intensifier. "Such a convenient website" means the website is very convenient.

(10) Maria: Listen
I should give Walmart's website a try. Have you tried Rakuten or Newegg?
(11) Ted: Listen
I have not shopped enough on Rakuten to have an opinion about it. I've bought a couple of [vocab word=electronic]electronic[/vocab] items from Newegg though. They had [vocab word=competitive]competitive[/vocab] prices and I didn't have enough money for a brand new product.

A "competitive" price is a low price, enough to compete against other stores. In "I didn't have enough money", "enough" acts as an adjective and is placed before a noun ("money").

(12) Maria: Listen
People are saying Rakuten is so much nicer and more convenient than other e-commerce websites. I wonder if that’s true.

To intensify a comparative adjective ("nicer"), we use "so much" before it.

(13) Ted: Listen
I have a big shopping list for Christmas. I’ll go to Rakuten and browse their deals. I’ll let you know how it goes.
